löffelweise: people are talking about it!

Food is on everyone’s lips – as is only natural.  But they're not just feasting, taking sustenance and satisfying their hunger - they're also talking about food, discussing and debating it. Every television channel now has its own cookery programme. Michelin-starred chefs are becoming celebrities. Cookery books are printed almost without end. When inviting friends to dinner, amateur cooks try to outdo each other with complicated menus and, thanks to abstract molecular cuisine, domestic kitchens are being turned into laboratories.

This is all very heartening. What a pleasure it is to see more value once again being attributed to food. Despite various major and minor crises, people continue to invest in fancy and fast cars, to walk in expensive shoes and to look at exquisite watches and, for a long time, high-quality food fell by the wayside. Convenience products were delivered to the door free of charge and “fast, fast” was more important than “good”. There has now been a reversal in this trend.

This is exactly where Löffelweise enters the scene. The original idea behind this series of gourmet events was to promote communication among the chefs on the Arlberg gastronomic scene and, of course, it was also about receiving external input. This is why international chefs were invited to attend.

Now in its fourth season, Löffelweise has become an established event. Our chefs are communicating amongst one another effectively. There is more co-operation and less competition, which is great, and we want to expand on this: we are well aware that we have discerning guests in the Arlberg who like to go out for good meals. This is why our aim with Löffelweise is to create a platform for high-quality discussions where everything revolves around good food, fresh ingredients, creative menus, fine wines and appealing culinary presentations.

It goes without saying that eating is a basic need but shouldn't eating quality food be equally important? If we use the analogy of a car: nobody tries to save on engine oil. Only the best is good enough. Ultimately it is about extending the life of your car and not about the price!

Enjoy yourself. Drink the wine that suits the occasion.
Discuss. Compare. Celebrate the meal. Awaken your senses. Have a lovely evening and talk about it!

Enjoy your meal!
